Water features come into play on many of the holes providing formidable hazards to the flat landscape. The greens are irrigated by a popup sprinkler system and the fairways, being cut from meadowland, remain lush even in drought and are well drained. Therefore the course is seldom closed. Being on the coast wind is often a feature, adding to the challenge of the course.
